Co-pays, deductibles & what you'll owe
Plain-language money terms, and how we keep your cost low.
Key takeaways
- A deductible is what you pay before coverage starts (it resets each year).
- Coinsurance is your share after the deductible — often 20% on Part B.
- A secondary/supplemental plan can cover that 20%; we bill it for you.
Deductible
The amount you pay out of pocket before Medicare or your plan starts paying its share. Medicare Part B has an annual deductible that resets each year.
Coinsurance & co-pay
After the deductible, Medicare Part B typically pays 80% of the approved amount and you're responsible for the remaining 20% — your coinsurance. Commercial plans sometimes use a flat co-pay instead.
Secondary / supplemental insurance
If you have a secondary or supplemental (Medigap) plan, we bill it for that 20% — which often leaves little to nothing out of pocket.
No surprises
We estimate your cost before delivery and explain exactly what (if anything) you'll owe.
