How to get a CGM covered by insurance

What is a CGM?
A continuous glucose monitor (Dexcom, FreeStyle Libre, Eversense) tracks your glucose around the clock through a small sensor — no routine fingersticks — and sends readings to a reader or your phone.
Who Medicare covers
Medicare covers a therapeutic CGM when you have diabetes and either use insulin or have a history of problematic (recurrent) low blood sugar, with your provider's order. Commercial plans often cover CGMs too, sometimes with broader criteria. We verify your specific plan before anything ships.
“Can I just buy one over the counter?”
Some newer sensors are now sold over the counter, but if you qualify, going through insurance with us usually costs less — and we handle the prescription and paperwork for you.
What it costs
For covered supplies, Medicare pays 80% after your deductible and you owe 20%; a secondary or supplemental plan typically covers that 20%. Private pay is available if you prefer.
